Naked bear theatre
We are young writers, actors and directors devising work. Whether to evoke laughter or social change we always strive to maintain a playful vulnerability onstage.
Nay murphy (He/him)
Founder & Artistic director
Nay Murphy is a writer, director and actor. When he's not occupied with theatre, Nay enjoys photography and vegan cooking. He has trained at the National Youth Theatre, where he founded an NYT Playwriting group. Nay is particularly interested in writing and performing psychological dramas (with a hint of comedy). He has had experience performing in London, Geneva and New York City, where he won two National Youth Arts Awards (USA) for leading actor in a play. Nay has directed a range of productions from Seussical Jr. to That Face by Polly Stenham. He is excited to be directing his own written work with Naked Bear and is excited to say that his most recent play 'The Definition of Charisma' has been long listed at the New Views National Theatre competition.
August Janklow (HE/HIM)
August Janklow is an American born Actor, Writer, and Musician. He has a history of working both on and behind the stage, having done everything from stage management to performance. He’s trained with the National Youth Theatre and at the Lee Strasberg institute in New York. August’s main focus when it comes to theatre is creating something that the audience will enjoy, and within that he seeks to curate uniquely striking images that stick in the watchers’ minds. Being raised in Manhattan, Broadway Musicals are some of August’s largest influences. This would explain why he writes and performs his own songs and can play most instruments (to varying levels of success).
